No Room At The Inn

No Room At The Inn and The Night That Changed Everything

We all are familiar with that famous Christmas Story from so long ago, where this young woman from Nazareth by the name of Mary was told by an angel that she would be the mother of God’s son, and she was to name him Jesus. Soon after the angel’s visit, Mary and Joseph were married.

Mary was in the last stages of her pregnancy, when the young couple had to go on a very long journey to Bethlehem to pay a special tax. They traveled for many days and arrived in Bethlehem at last.

Tired, hungry and the baby was about to be born, they were looking for a place to stay, but the answer was “NO” at every door they knocked. They were rejected everywhere by everyone.

There was no room at the Inn!

Parents of children with special needs know the sting of that rejection: no, you are not invited. No, you cannot come to that party or function. No, you are not welcome. No! No! No!

Often our children are teased, bullied, shunned and rejected. Being on the outside, when everyone seems to be inside is frightening and lonely.

But we are in the best of company, because Jesus knows this road very well. He knows and understand exactly what we are going through.

The Savior of the world was born outside, because there was no room for Him at the Inn, no room inside.

But eventually one innkeeper offered a stable outside where he kept his animals, and a few hours later that night Mary gave birth to her son, and laid him in a manger full of hay, and a bright star appeared in the sky.

That Holy Night was a night that changed everything!!!

Shepherds on a hillside, who were watching their sheep saw this unusual light in the sky and were afraid. But an angel appeared and told them not to be afraid but of good cheer, because Christ the Savior had been born this night.

God’s son, the Savior of this world was born outside.

So, if you are experiencing the sting of exclusion and rejection, and you are on the outside, Jesus was born for you, on the outside, to help you understand that he has felt your pain, he gets your story.

Shepherds and Wise Men came to worship Jesus and brought him gifts.

There is worship, wonder, and awesomeness happening on the outside, beneath that brightest holy star of Bethlehem, and only those on the outside get to experience that kind of awe, and worship, and being that near to the Savior of this world.

There May Not Be Room At The Inn, But There Is Room At The Manger For Everyone !!!

Merry Christmas.

Frohe Weihnachten
