Creamy Vanilla Millet Porridge
Millet is an ancient grain that has been grown for thousands of years, and today it is one of the most important crops for humans and animals.
Millet helps you look more beautiful. It is gluten-free, contains lots of protein and antioxidants and reduces the risk of colon cancer.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup millet
- 2 cups oat milk or your favorite non-dairy milk
- 2 tbsp of Vegan Butter
- 2 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Directions
1. Wash the millet using a fine mesh strainer to get rid of the dirt and debris and soak over night.
2. In a saucepan melt 2 tablespoons of Vegan butter and toast the raw, washed and soaked millet on low heat for 4 minutes or until the grains become fragrant. Be careful not to let them burn. Stir frequently.
3. Add 2 cups of Vegan milk and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low and simmer covered for about 15 minutes, until all the milk is absorbed. Stir occasionally.
4. Once the millet is cooked, add maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and mix well. Turn off the heat and let it sit for another 10 minutes.
5. Garnish with fresh fruits, nuts and serve.
This recipe makes 2 cups of millet.
OPTIONAL
- 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1/4 cup non-dairy mik
Mix the milk and orange juice and then pour over the hot millet. This gives the millet porridge a nice refreshing flavor.

Millet is an excellent source of Vitamin A and B, Phosphorus, Potassium, Antioxidants and Niacin.
