Beets
Beets are not the new kids on the block but have risen to superfood status. This aromatic gem is a vibrant, colorful and robust vegetable with so many health benefits.
Beets contain nitrates. Nitrates widen and relax blood vessels, which improves oxygen flow to the brain, which in turn enhances cognition, and protects you from Dementia and Alzheimer’s as you age.
The nitrates in beets help stabilize your blood pressure and are responsible for decreasing the risk of heart-attacks and strokes.
The nitrates in beets also boost your endurance and athletic performance.
Beets are rich in betalains, the pigments that give beets their vibrant and red color. Betalains reduce inflammation throughout your whole body. Chronic inflammation, the silent killer, is linked to cancer and diabetes.
Beets are a great source of potassium, a mineral that helps nerves and muscles function properly and helps your heart from having abnormal rhythms.
Beets are packed with fiber and are an excellent addition to a weight-loss program. In addition, the magnesium and potassium help detoxify the body and flush excess water, preventing bloating and constipation.
Beets are high in iron, which boosts the regeneration of red blood cells and prevents anemia.
Beets stimulate the function of the liver. This root vegetable contains pectin, a water-soluble fiber that helps flush the liver from toxins and reverse fatty liver.
Beets contain beta-carotene which slows down macular degeneration and helps prevent cataracts, an age-related blindness.
Beets contain copper, boron and magnesium, which helps your bones to develop normally and prevent the loss of calcium.
Beets are the perfect anti-aging remedy, because of their high folate content. It helps the cells repair properly and prevent premature aging and gives your skin that youthful glow.
Carrots
Carrots will balance and normalize the entire body. And yes, this includes weight issues. Carrots will help with achieving a weight that is right and normal for you.
Carrots are the richest source of Vitamin A and also contain Vitamin B, C, D, E, K and riboflavin.
Carrots are rich in sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sulphur, and silicon.
Carrots maintain and improve the bone structure of your teeth, they help and protect your eyes, provide elasticity and strength to your skin, aid in collagen production and are a natural solvent for cancerous and ulcerous conditions.
Strawberries
Strawberries are a delicious, juicy superfood, packed with nutrients and antioxidants and their benefits are endless.
Strawberries prevent cataracts – the clouding of the eye – which can lead to blindness. But the high Vitamin C content in strawberries strengthens the cornea and retina of our eyes and protects them from the sun’s harsh UV rays.
Strawberries are abundant in antioxidants like lutein, zeathancins and ellagic acid and therefore suppress the growth of cancer cells.
Antioxidants are scavengers to free radicals and neutralize their negative affect they have on our cells.
Strawberries are vital to the production of collagen and therefore make you look younger. According to Korean researchers, the high Vitamin C and Ellagic Acid content in strawberries visibly prevent collagen destruction, and thus are natural wrinkle fighters.
Strawberries reduce oxidative stress, which is beneficial to the heart. Heart disease and strokes are the leading causes of death according to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. But the mighty little strawberry contains an abundance of phytochemicals that counteract the effects of bad cholesterol, meaning they stop plaque buildup in the arteries and thus boost heart health.
Strawberries protect against chronic inflammation, which can lead to arthritis, heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Strawberries regulate blood pressure and their potassium content acts as a buffer against the negative effects of sodium. In other words, the strawberry is one of the most heart-healthy fruits you can eat.
Strawberries are great for maintaining a healthy weight. They are low in calories, fat-free, low in sodium, low in sugar and so sweet and yummy. Who can resist them? They make the perfect snack, especially if you are trying to lose weight.
