Abundance of fruits and vegetables growing on tree in magical garden

Bearing Fruit In Season & The Apple Tree

My parents have a large, beautiful garden where they grow every fruit and vegetable that can survive Germany’s cooler climate. It’s
a place where the seasons speak clearly
—each one leaving its own mark on the soil.

In autumn, our apple trees become the stars of the garden. They overflow with sweet, juicy fruit—so many apples that it
feels almost wasteful: apples on the ground, apples on the branches, apples everywhere.

But soon after, the trees stand bare. They enter their quiet, dormant season—a time when no fruit appears, when everything
looks still, lifeless, and unproductive. Yet this barrenness is not failure; it’s preparation. What seems like emptiness is actually the slow, hidden work that allows next year’s abundance to grow.

Even the Bible speaks about bearing fruit in season: “There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every event under heaven.” ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1

Once upon a time, people lived by this truth. We ate berries and tomatoes only in summer, apples in autumn, and watched for the delicate snowdrops that announced the arrival of spring.

Today, though, we live in a world where everything is available all the time.

We don’t have to observe the natural rhythm of sowing and harvest, of night and day, of rest and work. We can produce everything artificially and instantly.

And that is where trouble begins: we ignore our own physical limitations, and the limitations of each season of our life. We demand and we expect “fresh fruit” at the snap of our fingers.

But learning about seasonal, plant-based foods—and even practicing Sound Therapy—can bring us back into alignment with these natural rhythms. Life moves in cycles: sowing small daily habits, waiting through the quiet and barren days, harvesting peace, energy, and well-being, and then resting again.

If you focus too much on winter’s barren ground and bare branches, you will miss the quiet abundance that surrounds you all year long.
